Two hundred and fifty years ago today, a group of men signed a piece of paper that said ordinary people had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

They didn't write that in a vacuum. They were standing on land. Land they worked, land they owned, land they were fighting to keep. The dream was never abstract. It was a specific piece of ground.

That dream is still available. The access is easier than most people think.

What land actually gives you

Land is different from every other asset.

Stocks move on decisions made by people you'll never meet. A house ties you to a mortgage, a market on its own schedule, and a rotating cast of plumbers. Land just sits there.

It doesn't depreciate. It doesn't need maintenance. It has never, in the entire 250-year history of this country, gone to zero. (A few categories of financial instrument can't say the same.)

You can build a cabin someday. Park a camper on weekends. Farm it. Pass it to your kids. Hold it and watch it appreciate while you do something else entirely. Land gives you options. You don't have to use them right now.

Why most people think it's out of reach

The standard story goes: you need a down payment, a credit score, a bank approval, a title company, and six weeks of paperwork.

That's houses. Land doesn't have to work that way.

With owner financing, you work directly with us. No bank in the middle, no loan committee deciding whether you qualify. You agree on a down payment and monthly payment that fits your actual budget, sign a land contract, and make payments until it's paid off. Then it's yours.

If you can afford a car payment, you can probably afford a piece of land.

What it actually costs

Down payments on our properties start in the hundreds. Monthly payments are sized to be manageable. Most people who've bought from us spent less getting started than they spent on a long weekend.

That's a piece of ground, in a country built on the idea that ordinary people deserve to own some of it.

We have properties right now in Florida, New Mexico, Oregon, and Arizona. Open desert in Deming, New Mexico. Pine country outside Chiloquin, Oregon. Pre-market acreage in Apache County, Arizona that hasn't gone live yet.

Two hundred and fifty years is a long time to celebrate a dream without living it.

Today seems like a reasonable day to change that.
